Flowcrete Americas is delighted to announce the launch of a new AIA CES Lunch & Learn Seminar designed to guide architects, engineers and Design-Build firms involved in the construction and maintenance of pharmaceutical and medical research facilities through the floor specification process.
The seminar, which has been launched in conjunction with Flowcrete Americas’ upcoming attendance at the annual Interphex Trade Show & Conference, provides specification professionals with a framework from which to assess a wide number of factors that will affect the choice of flooring material to be used in different operational zones, including federal regulations, functional needs and installation challenges.
In particular, the seminar will address CGMP, FDA & HACCP compliance & regulatory guidelines surrounding the use of floor, wall and coving materials in pharmaceutical and medical research facilities and the benchmarks that pharmaceutical brands need to hit in order to ensure a safe, sanitary and sterile working environment.
The seminar also promises to perform a lifecycle cost analysis on a range of commonly specified flooring materials, in order to weigh up the total cost associated with the floor over its lifespan, with the view to reducing capital and maintenance expenditures over time.
Flowcrete has carved out a niche as a key player in the provision of innovative flooring systems for the global pharmaceutical industry counting GSK, AstraZeneca, Novartis, Eli Lilly and Pfizer amongst its global customer base.
One of Flowcrete’s most lauded successes is in the field of antimicrobial flooring, which allows industry and service sectors to fight infection from ground level. Flowcrete’s Flowfresh cementitious urethane line contains a silver-based antimicrobial agent designed to provide a second line of defense when it comes to contamination control.
The range, which is highly chemical, thermal shock and slip resistant, also comes backed by a HACCP International certified, which endorses the products status as safe to use in wet, dry and damp environments where consumable products are manufactured, processed and / or packaged.
Other innovations from the flooring manufacturer, which are to be covered in the seminar, include fast cure methyl methacrylate flooring solutions – a must where downtime needs to be minimized and the area returned to service under a short time frames – as well as vinyl ester anti-corrosion coatings and linings for areas subject to secondary containment issues.
On top of this, hygienic wall and ceiling coatings alongside coving options that provide a hygienic envelope for the entire cleanroom are discussed.
The seminar, entitled ‘Selecting CGMP Compliant Flooring Solutions that Meet the Challenges of Pharmaceutical Processing Facilities’ offers AIA members 1 LU to contribute to annual credits. These seminars are available nationwide to those working in the field of floor specification.
